Creating the Wheels
So, after finishing the modeling for the wheel support, I created one of the main wheels, and then I'm going to create another wheel for the low poly model so I don't have to worry about making it later.
Refining the Wheel Support Model
It's beginning to look like a wheel support now that I refined the model for the wheels and other objects to attach to it. I learned a new thing in the 3ds Max interface when you press Alt-W in the keyboard. It maximizes the panel you selected which is very helpful.
Creating the Main Wheel Support
As I watched the instructor, I created the main wheel from using the high poly guide object as a reference just like how I used the reference guide object for the hub, shaft, and wheel. I'll be working on refining the low poly main wheel support in the next video.
Setting Up UV Maps for the Wheels
I watched the instructor make the uv maps for the drive wheels, and I pretty much copied exactly what he did. It's the same process as the uv mapping on the drive shaft. Now, I get to work on making the main wheel support for the low poly model.
Finishing Off the Drive Wheel
I extruding the low poly object some more, also trying the match the shape of the high poly guide object as reference. The low poly drive wheel is now done, and it's now time to do the uv mapping for it.
Detailing the Drive Wheel
I added some detail to the drive wheel by extruding some polygons around, and now I'm going to finish making the drive wheel in the next video.
Using Guide Objects
I started using the guide cylinder that the instructor added to the scene. Then, I added an edit poly-modifier to the cylinder, and then went into the edge sub-object mode to start modeling the drive wheel.
